Nordic HPC (NHPC)
The national High Performance Computing (NHPC) research infrastructures of Denmark, Norway and Sweden have decided to place a joint HPC cluster in Iceland. The user support and systems administration for the Swedish partition of this system is managed by UPPMAX, providing the same services as for a standard foundation level system in SNIC. 26% of the resource is available to Swedish researchers for large-scale allocations via SNAC.
NHPC Hardware
Below follows a short description of the NHPC resources that are available via SNAC. For more information regarding NHPC, see the NHPC web-pages: http://nhpc.hi.is/
The Linux-based cluster consists of 288 compute servers, each server with two Hexa-core Intel® Xeon® E5649 (Westmere-EP 2.53 Ghz) processors, 24 GB memory and 250 GB local disc. A QDR-InfiniBand network interconnects all compute servers. A local storage system is available, and the system is connected to SUNET via a 10 Gbit connection.
